Hello folks,

I am planning a trip to France this spring. I will be there a year learning the language, bee keeping and permaculture practices. I was wondering if anyone had some information that might help me plan the trip with a little awareness of the queer/fairy angle? I hope to spend some time at Folle Terre but I would love to visit other queer friendly rural settings and make some friends along the way. Any information would be wonderful.

I will be starting my trip in Ireland in April then heading to France.

Last weekend I was at Folleterre for the Lumberjane gathering, my first faeriegathering this year i attended. Part of my personal agenda was to retire in the wood on the magick meditation spot and do a for me important light-sound-colour meditation.

So Anna- Lize the faeriename i had since l996 went up the hill a few afternoons in the beautifull autumnweather, with a golden light in between the trees.

For me Anna-Lize was the name of one of my female aspects of my parallel lives in time and space(in fact she was a housewife in Dresden and died in the bombing attack of february l945) I (Jan in this lifetime) carried her in and with me till last sunday 15 th of october , to finish her unfinished business -a lot of worry pain and suffering -in this lifetime

IT enabled me to let go of her,and let her finally die in bliss and peace,unlike when she died in l945.
The meditation I ran is called the Tauren Lightseedmeditation,the opening of the diamond door. Every living being on this planet, and in the universe has a TAUREN,a light structure that connects to the central source.In human bodies its located in the Azura, at the end of the bone on the chest, under the heart, and its a central part of the light bodies around the human physical- visible body.

In the past i was always told by many people that I was a lightworker, connecting people and places to whatever purpose. Ok great, just I had till beginning this year no clue what was ment by that , and also I had no clue about many things having to do with my own sometimes strange energy, other peoples energies and behaviour,just staying the observer on the sideline without the feeling of being really connected,to my inner being in the first place and to the outside world in general on the second place,why am i here on this world?? from small child on I had this question, with this enormous longing to be home somewhere else.I just could not put my finger on this question ,let be on the answer to it. SO i startet my search. at the age of 15 . read libraries of books on magick, new age stuff, channelings,. Was for some years a sannyassin of Oshio(l982-1989 visits to the ashrams in Poena India and Oregon USA)did lots of therapeutic group work, studied and practiced Reiki, travelled to powerspots all over the planet,searching for the missing pieces of the puzzle of my life,or better looking for the greater picture, so i might manage to put the puzzle together.

I just mention a few places where I had major visions and experiences that gave me some insights and healing .The magick land in Dartmoor south england(l975 where i met my first teacher about spiritual things The central room in the great pyramid in Giza,the temples of Luxor ,(l979).The gardens of the Okapi palace in istambul l979 where spontaniously my memory of many lifetimes in time and space startet to come back, the once blosseming center of the Apollo cult in Greece, the island of Delos, , Long Cannyon and other vortexes in and around Sedona USA

In l991 was my fist gay Spirit vision meeting in North Carolina, and i went there every year till l994 meeting new people ,having new experiences, and than there were the Eurofaeries, many of them have become like familymembers .Lots of sharing , many lessons for me as an only child of older parents,lots of lauging lots of crying, lots of Love in the first place . Just my search for the puzzle and the pieces went on.

First I found out I was an Indigo and what that implies .. for me, and it explained me so many questions I always had, and i could not find the answers or see the resonance with faeries or other communities i was involved with .Since than a tsunami of information I was always looking for, about history, my history, the history of this planet, the history of the universe, the structure of me and the many aspects of what I call me,the structure of life, the structure of the planet and the universe has come over me. And Im learning discovering and rediscovering, .learning ,as if i am at school again, the ancient teachings of all times of the Law of ONE , Im learning many light-sound colour techniques that have allready giving me back pieces of the big puzzle

Dear lovely faeries,

This email contains instructions for participating in and creating heart space for this weekend's international on-line faerie heart circle. We encourage you to read this entire email, which includes important information about the unique world of on-line heart space. We strongly encourage you to join us--- we have received RSVPs from faeries around the world, including our brave fae sisters in Bangkok, who will be waking up to log in at 4AM Sunday, Thailand time. Faeries have also RSVPd from Seoul, Madrid, England, Germany, and Australia. We will be well-represented with Americans and Canadians also.

Why are we doing it? Because the heart circle is such an important tool/technology for spreading faerie consciousness. Some faeries are unable to access heart circles at in-person gatherings. We also are aware that a new generation of potential faeries is making a regular home on the internet, and we need to figure out how to engage with them. So we are doing this experiment.

This email, describing that experiment, includes four sections:

1) Logging in to the heart space
2) Creating the heart space
3) Cautions and Caveats and
4) Documenting the experience (so we can improve it even further in the future).

Please note: the password for the Radical Faerie chatroom you will enter is Yoohoo . We encourage you to print out this entire email and have it handy during the heart circle.

A word of encouragement: Though these directions may seem complicated, they are easy to learn, and your log-in process will become very easy once you have experimented a bit. So please, if you have time, play around in Stickam prior to this weekend's circle.

1) LOGGING INTO THE HEART SPACE (we encourage you to try these steps prior to the circle itself-- you can try out the chatroom directions on another existing chatroom):

a. Using Stickam as a site for heart circles: Stickam is designed to allow multiple users to join a video/audio/text conversation. When you join the Radical Faerie room, you can 1) see and hear participants in the room who are on camera or have microphones; 2) transmit your own video/audio; and 3) enter text into the text chat. If you do not have a video camera or microphone, you can still participate in the circle by typing your comments into the text box.

b. Joining Stickam: Point your brower to http://www.stickam.com/viewJoin.do . Sign up for a free membership. You may want to consider using your faerie name as your login name. Complete the registration process.

c. Now login to Stickam with your username and password.

d. Point your browser to the Chat Room area (listed on the menu at the top of the page): http://www.stickam.com/chatRoomEn.do . A list of available chat rooms will appear. Scroll through the list and find the room named "Radical Faeries". Click on the button "Enter" next to this chat room, and you will be prompted for a password. Enter: Yoohoo . Note: The Radical Faerie chatroom will be available starting at 3PM Eastern Standard Time Saturday, USA, and the circle will begin at 4PM Saturday EST. Please join the room early if you wish to try out its features prior to the beginning of the circle. We are passwording the chatroom in order to avoid the possibility of random, curious stickam members joining the room.

e. You will now be asked to click on acceptance of the Stickam rules. Click OK.

f. You will now enter the Radical Faerie heart space. The room contains three windowpanes: 1) a windowpane containing 12 boxes in which you can see participants who have cameras/microphones. 2) a windowpane for text chat and 3) a windowpane that lists all faeries who are currently in the heart space (including you).

g. Special Note for those wishing to use video/audio: In order to use the video/audio feature, you must set the Flash player to find the video camera and microphone on your computer. To do this, position your cursor over one of the twelve video boxes, and right click (Windows)/ ctrl click (Mac) to bring up the Flash options. Look for the small icons for a microphone and a video camera, and click on these to make sure that they are set corrrectly for the microphone and video camera resident on your computer. For those who need help with this, please arrive at the Radical Faerie heart space early and we will do a short tutorial on setting up cameras/microphones. If you are able to get on-line in advance to try video/audio in another chatroom we recommend this.

Once your audio/video is set up, you can click on one of the 12 available boxes and a dialogue box will pop up asking if you allow the flash player to access your video and audio. If you click "Allow", your video and/or audio will stream into the stickam system, and you will be viewable and hearable.

h. How do I choose which faeries I get to see in the video boxes? You have the ability to choose which faeries you see in the 12 video boxes. If there are more than 12 faeries with us this weekend who have video or audio, you can "dock" and "undock" faeries from the windows. To undock (remove) someone, simply click their window and look for a small "x". When you click on this "x", the faerie in that window will disappear (though you will still be able to hear them). To "dock" (add) a faerie into an empty box, click on her/his name in the list of faeries to the right, and if he/she has a camera/mic available, you will see the "dock" option when you click on their name, and simply click on "dock" to have them appear in one of the empty boxes. Note: You can only dock someone if there is an empty box for them, so you may need to undock someone if all boxes are occupied.

i. A note on lag: Since stickam will be managing audio/video/text streams from around the world, there is sometimes a lag from the time you type/speak, to the time that others are able to read/hear. Please be patient and wait for the words to arrive.

j. A note on muting: We recommend muting your microphone if you are not speaking. This both reduces noise, and reduces the amount of information that stickam must process, thus reducing lag. So please- mute your mic if you are not speaking.

k. A note on freezing: Sometimes (depending upon your internet connection) you will see the room freeze up. If this occurs, click on the "Reload" button at the top of the chatroom.

2. CREATING THE HEART SPACE

a. A note on time: Since participants will be joining us from multiple time zones, and both daylight and standard time zones, we encourage you to check to make sure that you join us at the right time. The heart space will be opened by Lady B, who is in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. This is Eastern Time Zone, USA. You can see the time details for Philadelphia at http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/city.html?n=198 . The heart space will open at 3PM EST Saturday, and the circle will begin at 4PM EST Saturday. If you have any questions or are unsure of your relative time, please contact us at bartlett.cd@gmail.com .

b. Grounding: We recommend that you arrive at the heart space early if possible. You should have some time to do personal grounding, become acquainted with the space, and ask questions. We welcome grounding rituals, such as burning of sage, lighting candles, chanting songs, etc. We have a huge global heart space to create, and we need you to bring all of your magic and rituals with you.

c. Being present for the Circle: It may be tempting to multitask while in the heart circle (check email, surf the web, etc.). We recommend that you take a risk of being fully present for the circle while it lasts.

d. Opening of the Circle: The Circle will open at approximately 4:05 PM EST Saturday. We will most likely follow a format that looks (approximately) like this:

1. Introduction to the Heart Space / How to participate/ What is a heart circle
2. Introductions of all circle participants (brief hello-- name, and one fun detail about yourself).
3. Announcements from the Circle
4. Grounding of the Circle
- Grounding Ritual
- Calling the Directions (we still need folks for many of the directions- contact bartlett.cd@gmail.com if you are interested).

3. Cautions and Guidelines

a. The internet is a porous space, and you should expect that there is a possibility that anything you say or type could be recorded by some person or group. We want you to be aware of this reality. Given this reality, we discourage sharing of illegal activities in the Circle, but we will not (of course) censor anything that is said. Just keep in mind the realities of electronic communication in the modern era.

b. This heart circle is an important experiment. It will no doubt be gorgeously imperfect. Please keep your own notes on what you think works and doesn't work, so that you can share them with the person/s who will be documenting the circle.

c. . What is the talking stick? Faeries are used to having a physical talking stick that indicates who is sharing. Since we will not be able to pass a physical talking stick, we will make use of the list of chat participants (in the right hand windowpane) and proceed down the list both for introductions and heart sharing. When you are finished sharing, you could say "I pass the talking stick to (next person on list of faeries)."

d. Language: This weekend's circle will be facilitated in English, but we welcome faeries who speak other languages. Please speak/type the language you are most comfortable speaking.

4) Documenting the Experience: A number of us (including Cetacea from Texas, USA) will be helping to document the experience. If you have written comments, please send them to bartlett.cd@gmail.com. We are hoping to being to have regular on-line circles, and we want to make them as powerful as possible.

Are you up for an adventure? Join us for an international on-line heart circle on Saturday, December 15/ Sunday, December 16, 2007. See below for your time zone and date. This will be a test run circle, to see how we can create heart space on the internet, which will be an increasingly crucial site of communication between humans, faerie and non-faerie, in the future.

We encourage you to bring your wisdom, your heart, and your spirit to this critical experiment in faerie community building. We will ground the circle, call the directions, read a tarot card, and dive into heart sharing. Many faeries have already shared feedback about the potential adventures and pitfalls of creating heart space on the internet. We want you to know that we take the responsibility of creating a faerie heart circle on the internet very seriously, and we want this to be a valuable experience for each of you. London based music project for gay/queer men

I'm a queer/gay man training as a music leader, looking to create a project for my peers, 40+ age group, addressing the need for grass-roots (as opposed to commercial/scene) music making, exploring group dynamics, 'community' and any other content agreed by the group that will aid creative music making. Vocalists and musicians of any level welcome, including those with no previous music education. No fees. This is intended as a pilot project to bring together men/musicians who would not usually have the chance to meet up and explore.

Interested in hosting a videochat heart circle

Dear beloved faeries,

I have been recently playing around with my laptop videocam and thinking that I would like to conduct an experiment: a videocam heart circle. My plan is to use a website called stickam (www.stickam.com) that allows multiple people to be in a videochatroom for free. If you want to check it out, go to Stickam and click on the chat room menu. I have been hanging out in a fun chat called WETSU.

I know that there are good reasons to be suspicious or concerned about the ways that new technologies could impact the ancient heart circle technology, but I want to give it a try in a thoughtful way. I envision creating a closed chatroom at Stickam in order to have a heart circle on line with faeries.

So here is what I am proposing: If you are interested in participating in this video heart circle and (even if you don't have a cam-- we will deal with that later), send me your contact info to bartlett.cd@gmail.com

I will begin a conversation with those who are interested about how we would set up the circle, what ethical questions are raised by a virtual heart circle, how it would be faciliated, and other logistics. I will then write up a FFAQ (faerie frequently asked questions) that will summarize how we will do the circle. Eventually, we will choose a date and have our heart circle!

So if you are interested in stepping into this new faerie frontier, shoot me an email! Again, if you are interested in participating but do not have a cam, contact me anyway and we will try to get you connected to someone who has a cam on their computer.

Ostara Is Upon Us
Vernal Equinox: Tuesday March 20th 2007

The vernal equinox, the world is poised on the brink, suspended between the cold months and the new warmth of the growing season. The world is coming alive with green shoots and animals seeking mates. Ostara is one of the Lesser Sabbats, usually celebrated anywhere from March 19th to 21st. Some celebrated on the fixed date of March 25 (Lady Day), while others celebrate on the next full moon (a time of increased births). While the equinox is a solar holiday, Eostre is a lunar goddess. This may be viewed as symbolic of the goddess (the moon) and the god (the sun) coming together in completion. Other names by which this Sabbat may be known are Oestara, Esther, Eostre's Day, the Rite of Eostre or Rites of Spring, Alban Eilir, Festival of the Trees, and the Bacchanalia. The Christian holiday of Easter is determined as the first Sunday after the first Full Moon after the Vernal Equinox.

According to the Venerable Bede (673-735), the Anglo-Saxons called the fourth month "Esturmonath" for the goddess Eostra. Her festival became the celebration of Christ's resurrection when Anglo-Saxon and German peoples were converted to Christianity. While English and German Christians still attach the name of Eostra to their most sacred holiday (Easter or Ostern), other European languages base the name on the Hebrew word "pasah," to pass over, reflecting the Christian holiday's Biblical connection with the Jewish Passover.

All cultures living in temperate climates celebrate the coming of spring with rituals and festivals. This was one of the most important of spring festivals among pre-Christian Germanic tribes, dedicated to the goddess Ostara, a goddess associated with the "east" and thus "dawn" and "morning light." Ostara is a time to celebrate the renewal and rebirth of Nature herself, and the coming Summer. Light and darkness are in balance, as are masculine and feminine energy, yin and yang. Ostara is a fertility festival celebrating the rebirth of the God and the awakening of life from the Earth. Some Wiccan traditions worship the Green Goddess and the Lord of the Greenwood.

The Spring-cleaning tradition derived from the old witches who engaged in a cleansing each spring followed by setting up a hedge of protection. All motions involving scrubbing of stains or hand rubbing the floors should be done "clockwise." This custom aids in filling the home with good energy for growth. Another Spring tradition for ancient pagans and magicians was to dig a small trench around the outer perimeter of their home. At each quarter they would bury an egg. A modern practitioner might also add iron, old rusty nails, metal keys, old razor blades, pins and needles or witch bottles filled with the above items to diffuse magical attacks and spiritual negativity. (If you are unable to dig a perimeter, you can improvise by placing iron keys above your door, and pentacles and sigils drawn on pewter or parchment paper under your carpet or floorboards.

As a time of cleansing and renewal, Ostara is an excellent time to begin some new project. It is an excellent month for prosperity rituals or rituals that have anything to do with growth. Spells for improving communications, fertility, and abundance are especially strong at this time. Some Pagan customs include ringing bells and lighting new fires at dawn for cures, renewed life, and protection of the crops. A common belief in nineteenth century Germany touted the curative properties of water drawn early on Easter morning. One nearly universal craft is decorating hard-boiled eggs.

Eggs have long been a symbol of rebirth. They have been found among the grave goods of Anglo-Saxons, within the tombs of the Egyptians, and were placed on the fresh graves of the deceased Greeks. In ancient time, eggs were gathered for use in the creation of talismans and ritually eaten. The gathering of different colored eggs from the nests of a variety of birds has given rise to two traditions still observed today, the Easter egg hunt and coloring eggs in imitation of the various pastel colors of wild birds. Some believed that humankind was inspired by watching birds weave nests to begin weaving the first baskets. This is perhaps the origin of the association between colored Easter eggs and Easter baskets.

The custom of coloring eggs seems to be limited to the Germanic countries, Slavic countries, and America. In Scotland and Ireland, the custom is virtually unknown. Each spring in Germany, bakery windows are filled with elaborately painted eggs. Eggs are also hung from flowering branches to make "egg trees." Easter is celebrated in Germany more enthusiastically than it is anywhere else in the world with decorations up a good month before the festival. There are parties, egg hunts, and other celebrations weeks in advance of Easter itself.

In many places, it is traditional to keep Easter eggs or shells all year to ward the family and cattle against harm. They are also used specifically as a charm against hail and lightning. For this reason, great care and thought goes into the creation of egg decorations, egg-trees, boiled and decorated eggs for eating, and hare cakes.

Eostre is a goddess of the moon, an ancient measurer of time. The lunar month of 28 days gives us thirteen periods in 364 days, equivalent to the solar year. The hare, though viewed as a symbol of fertility, is also a symbol of the moon. Ixchel, the Mayan Goddess of the moon, midwifery and weaving, has a rabbit totem. Mexican panels of 600-900 AD show her giving birth to and suckling a rabbit, and another shows the rabbit representing phases of the moon.

The Egyptians called the hare Un, which means open, to open, and the opener. The month of April, the first month of the spring season, comes from the Latin “to open.” Un also means period of time. The hare as "opener" symbolizes the New Year at Easter, and fertility and the beginning of new life within the young. Since the hare can sleep with its eyes open, the Romans equated it with vigilance and believed that rabbits watched over everything. According to one story, Buddha placed the rabbit in the moon after it voluntarily gave itself as food for one of Buddha's hungry friends. In another, a rabbit jumped into a fire to feed a hungry Indra and out of gratitude, Indra placed the rabbit in the moon. Rabbits were significant totem animals however and eating them was prohibited in Britain and Egypt. A Scottish superstition suggested that eating rabbit was equivalent to eating one's grandmother.

In Asian myth, rabbits and the moon are virtually identical. The Rabbit in the Moon sweeps its surface clean with bound horsetails according to Japanese stories. The rabbit pounds rice into flour, making mochi which means both rice flour and full moon. The Sanskrit word, cacadharas also means both moon, and "that which carries the hare."

Rabbits also represent immortality and vitality. Pliny the Elder stated that rabbit meat enhanced one's beauty and radiance for a week afterwards, and Chinese myth believed rabbit meat was essential for vitality. According to Chinese myth, the rabbit is a symbol of longevity. Its fur turns white at age 100 and blue at 500. In Eastern Asian myth, rabbits created an elixir of immortality. The Algonquin trickster rabbit, Manabozho, is thought to embody all life-giving energy.

In Greece, live rabbits were popular love gifts, indicating sexual intentions. European wedded couples in the Middle Ages exchanged rabbit-shaped rings. Rabbit's popularity as a sex charm or fertility totem is related to its' natural cycle. A rabbit's gestation period is approximately one month, and it tends to be the first animal to give birth in the springtime, continuing to have litters of kits during the year. In Asian folklore, a rabbit may become pregnant simply by staring at a full moon, licking a male rabbit's fur under a full moon, or running across a moon-lit water's surface.

A short note about conditions at Folleterre...

As of the spring of 2007, Folleterre is rougher than most would like. This means there is limited running water and minimum-comfort sleeping conditions.

BUT, there is a phone, a few beds, many mattresses, sleeping bags and blankets to borrow, low-technology toilets, pure and drinkable water, a working kitchen and wood stove, electric lights, the beginnings of a garden, and a lot of love.

2006 was our first full year on the land and 2007 promises again to be a year of both decisions about what we want as well as work to create the reality from our dream.

Please consider joining your fellow faerie sisterbrothers in shaping Sanctuary in Europe!

belonging. Belonging to a land, a Tribe, an ancient Tribe that goes way
beyond the acres we share here... Lets reach out to our faerie sisters
across the planet those who know it and those who still have to hear the
faerie call...

Let it be a place with Future. A place where respect is learned again where
we learn not only to circle but also to cycle: to get away from the linear
ages and back to the cycles of mother nature again.

Circling we want!
A lot has happened in our small faerie world since we got this land. It
rocked the foundations for many of us. Mostly a gentle rocking of dreams
re-emerging but like any birth it came with some cramps too. Confusion of
what to do, how to do it, how to communicate, how to organise... many
questions unanswered. For some this brought quite a bit of tension so that's
why this gathering is intended to be one of !!!HEARTSPACE!!!
Healing we want!
This may also be the time for those of you who personally had tough moments
being involved in the birth of this place to acknowledge you might want some
healing. Time for all of us to see that need and DO something with it..
Please come Prepared!
for the rituals: as this is an unique moment in the creation of something
that will hopefully be a beautifull flower, long to last, in this bizare
world. You may wanna think of your intentions, prayers, wishes, drag, fun
you want to be included in the opening rutual!
Practical: are you a steward? (or want to become one?) then realy think
what your role can be, what you think is important to get going and MOREOVER
think HOW it can be achieved, what YOU can do to make it happen.
About heart circles:
Perhaps this is a moment to think of our HeartCircles. It seems that the
Sanctuary is shaking our circles quite a bit! Now its not just easy talking
of what you feel. We work together, have also more disagreements and pains
coming up so it seems the heartcircles get a bit tougher. They are now realy
needed to check in on what we cause to and with eachother. This is scary and
perhaps a reason why the last times it seemed hard to get a circle together.
But lets overcome and turn it into a beautifull chance to realy share pain
and start growing trust with eachother.
We need circles now also in different ways. not only for heartcircle but
also for the proces of defining what we want to do on the land. The last
gatherettes lots have been done and little discussed. It seems that this
stirred up quite some emotions so now we want to take our time to realy
circle intense on getting things cleared and opened. It may be scary but if
we want this place to be a Sanctuary, we may want to be serious about
speaking from the heart, especialy in these pioneering times. Where it comes
to decision making we also still really need to find out what it is to do
things in consensus. A proces that isnt easily fully understood, a journey
on itself....

Registration: simply let DeeTale know: preferably by Email but phone is good
as well. we have no clue how many folx to expect and it would be of great
help if you let me know. Also I can try to hook you up with faerie rides for
the fun or if things tend to get to costly 4 you....

Fee's: a fee that just covers the costs would be 10 euro's per day but as we
have to pay the mortgage it would be very nice if you pay more of a regular
gathering fee like a 25 euro per day. Those who can could perhaps compensate
for those who cant.... noone turned away If you cant afford to pay!

How to get there:
By Public Transport: get your ass 2 Paris or Basel (train or plane). From
there you take a train to Lure which is an intercity station on the line
Basel-Paris. Let me know in advance when you arrive or Call the folx on the
land if you want to get picked up: + 33 3 84 63 89 40
By Car: In the north east of France you can find on a normal map: le thillot
and Lure. Between those 2 places runs the D486. When you come from Le
Thillot, as soon as you enter Ternuay, you take the Very First road up the
mountain. It says Monument on a sign and "Route Historical de France" or
so.It lingers up for several kilometers. After a while you will come out of
the forrest with a meadow on your left hand side. Then you come by a
farmhouse and next you see an free standing house on your left. After that
house, go on until a strong curve in the road to the right with another sign
for monument pointing to the right. DON'T follow that curve to the right but
go GaylyForward onto an unpaved road: FolleTerre!!!

What to bring:
· anything for the ritual: tree's to plant, wishes to bring, objects
that can nurture the connection to any thing that is dear to you, gifts from
other communities we want to be linked with?
· plates, cups, n cutlery that you can leave behind
· Stuff to sleep: you will find an empty house with a huge haystack
too. So bring a sleepingbag and if you don't wanna sleep in the hay, a
matress too. There are also lovely camping spaces if you prefer your private
quiet cocoon
· biodegradable goodies: be aware that anything that you dispose in
water on the land will flow to our pond with lovely fishes and frogs. think
of them when you are stuffing your toiletries. Do get biodegradable soap,
toothpaste and shampoo.
· Torche, water bottle, etc. Be aware that we don't have ANY
electicity or running water yet. So at least a torch or headlamp will be a
necessity.
· Gifts for the land: It is amazing how many things we got already in
a short period of time. If you have things you think might be usefull to the
land you may wanna check with:

Some suggestions for how to share n walk the land lightly:

· the horn for circles and diner time: 3 blows is to slowly get your
act together (20 minute notice) 5 blows is diner/circling time
· Use of Toilet: Uphill next to the house is a composting toilet for
your more solid disposals. If you have to pee, please don't do it on the
toilet but in the forrest just around it
· Use of the source: Please don't wash at the souce with soap as that
water runs very quick into the pond. if you have washing to do or dirty
water to get rid of, do it at the showerspot or somewhere along the road.
The source water has been drunk many times but may contain a minimal amount
of bacteria. For those who like fully clean water is being collected at the
village source down the mountain.
· Please be aware of the Neigbours: the shape of the land is quite
complicated. Beware that you might be on the land of the neigbours. We want
to establish a good relationship with them and that has been challenghing.
Please DON'T swim in the lakes that you find in the forrest untill we have
good agreements on that with our neigbours. Sound seems no problem: we had
loud drummin circles and the neigbours didn't notice a thing.
· FIRE HAZARD: the house is very easy to burn with the stables full of
hay etc. DON'T use any candles etc that are not in proper containments.
Don't use plastic containers for tealights: when they run emtpy the aluminum
cups get very hot and melt the plastic. When you leave a room as a last
person, do put out all the candels!
· Mice and Rats: please keep all food in containers. Especially over
night!
· You may want to give a thought on how much we want cellphones to
enter faerie space...
· enjoy your stay!!!

Since we last reported to you on June 8, we have completed the purchase of the Sanctuary!

This update is AGAIN an URGENT call to gather, circle, step up, speak out, donate, and contribute. We need your ACTIVE support and participation NOW!!!

LEGAL STRUCTURE AND PURCHASE

On Solstice, we signed the final act for the purchase of the land. We noted that we made the decision to try to buy the land exactly three months prior, also on a special day, the Spring Equinox. Junis, Beebalm, and Inno were present. All the paperwork will be available over the next few weeks on the web.

Thank you all for participating in this hard piece of work. It is just marvelous how we got it done in just three month. I was a wonderful experience, how we have put our energy together and what we have achieved!!! Thank you and kisses and faerie magic to all!!!

LAND USE AND SANCTUARY DEVELOPMENT

Mr. Cardot, the banker, will send a proposal for the fire, storm, and water insurance for the house to Beebalm. The house is insured for 30 days by the previous owners.

Mr. Luc, the contractor, advised us to check the source until August and then ask him to do the job for the sanitary system and the source containment. This gives us time to think what and how we want to get these things done. It seems necessary to really think about the source containment and a bigger drinking water reservoir. The capacity of the upper source has really minimized and a continuous flow is practically only dripping water. So we should need a bigger container, which is filling itself during the whole day and night. Mr. Luc also advised us to probably dig the source somewhat deeper – he would do that too, to get a bigger capacity. He also said that it would be better to have a bigger clearing around the source, because the trees take a lot of water every day, like 20 l a day. If the water capacity is too low, we can think of pumping the water from the other two sources which are still flowing well into the drinking water reservoir as well. Junis will think about fishes to eat the mosquito larvae.

For the pond he said, that it could be up to 2 meters deep. The soil would be used as a dyke on the back side of the meadow. He could not guarantee that the water would stay during all of summer. I am thinking that we need a pond, if we want to have enough water for gardening to have a sufficient water supply for watering the plants. Of course it would be so nice to have a pond to swim in as well. If the isolation with the soil of the land is not sufficient, we could use ecological proved foil, which I used here at my house, or isolation with clay, Junis will check out.

There are wood worms in all floors of the house. We could see the little heaps of saw mill on the planks. We have to think about that until our gathering in July and do something about it.

We left at the house, shovels, a saw, an axe, a hatch, cleaning stuff, some food and some beverages, matches, candle lights, some foam mats, charcoal and the toilet tent.

For July we especially need masks if we clean the house it’s very dusty.

Because between 10 and 15 faeries are coming to the July fun and a little work gatherette on the land, we should prepare that a little, the best would be to arrange things during T-11. We definitely will have to build a compost toilet for now, because it would be impossible that everyfaerie shits where she likes. We are having the toilet tent and we need a good deep hole, a good seat to sit on. Junis will bring saw dust to keep the smell and the flies away. We should encourage faeries to bring tents, because cleaning the house and sleeping there can be a mess for those staying in the house.

We told the post office, that we are now having a post box at the house, which has to be permanently installed in July. We need some cement for that.

COMMUNITY AND EVENTS

What this means is that anyone interested in participating in decision-making for the Sanctuary can now pledge to become a member of the Folleterre Circle (officially, our Board of Directors) as a Steward. Faeries wishing to take part in decision-making on a less-intensive basis can become Members of the Association and participate in the Great Circle at least once a year as well as others as possible.

Hello lovely ones! Gwynedd here in Chicago. The faeries here don't yet have a tribe group, but we do have a yahoo group where we post our events et al. (ChgoRadicalFaeries). I just finished my Master of Fine Arts degree last week. Hurrah! of course, since I live in a regressive country, that means I have a HUGE debt of student loans. Boo! Anyway, I am starting my job search, any leads will be appreciated. My MFA is in Interdisciplinary Arts and Media, and I would LOVE to move to Europe. I am toying with the idea of going on for a doctorate in Art History, that would require my going to Paris.
But, I shall be here in Chicago for a while yet, and anyone passing through is welcome to visit or stay at the Faerie house. We have a lot of room, and are very near a pretty beach.
This time of year my thoughts always turn to all of you and the magical time we shared at the first Terschelling gathering. Blessed Be and Happy Solstice.

Since we last reported to you on May 19, things have moved very rapidly. There are many updates below, the most important of which we will repeat several times. In less than two weeks faeries will own Sanctuary in Europe.

This update is an URGENT call to gather, circle, step up, speak out, donate, and contribute. We are in love with the land, and we are tired. A lot of love and hard, hard work has gone into what has happened since we first came to you on March 21st with reports that we had found Sanctuary. We need your ACTIVE support and participation NOW!!!

LEGAL STRUCTURE AND PURCHASE

Les Amis de Folleterre and Tax Status

Since our last update, we have answered all of the major questions about the legal structure to purchase the land. The association Les Amis de Folleterre (Friends of Folleterre) is registered with the local government and is now able to complete the land purchase. The association is applying to become approved with a special status in France because of its “general interest” which will mean contributions will not be subject to tax. While we wait for that approval, we are able to receive contributions either as membership fees (monthly gifts) or as <<apports>>, a structure we can only use for one-time gifts until July 21st. We are grateful to our expert advisors for helping us to get to this point.

The association at its start consisted only of founding members Beebalm, Ceelestia, and Innocentia (AKA Dietrish, Trish-Trash, etc.—this one will have a big bill if we implement a name-change fee!). We have since added Junis as a Member and Steward and all donors of more than 10 EUR to now will be added shortly as Members. Please see the Folleterre site if you want to become a Member or Steward.

Financing

We have signed papers for a loan of not more than 100,000 EUR with the banker Mr. Cardot, as well as papers for insuring the house and the founding members of the association (required by the bank). We have completed the transfer of our 50,000 EUR deposit to the French account for Folleterre. Beginning 5 July 2005 we will have monthly bills for the loan payment, insurance, taxes, and telephone totaling approximately 850 EUR. We currently have pledges covering 300 EUR per month, meaning we cannot pay the bills. We urgently need anyone who can contribute at least 25 EUR a month to do so now.

Ownership

On 21 June at 11:00 a.m. in Lure, France, Innocentia will sign the final papers purchasing the Sanctuary on behalf of the association Les Amis de Folleterre and the EuroFaeries. We will own this land in less than two weeks. At the same time, Innocentia has agreed to purchase an additional parcel of land just behind the house and hold it until the Sanctuary can purchase it back.

COMMUNITY AND EVENTS

We CALL TO CIRCLE any and all faeries who wish to have a say in creating sacred faerie Sanctuary space. What this means is that anyone interested in participating in decision-making for the Sanctuary can now pledge to become a member of the Folleterre Circle (officially, our Board of Directors) as a Steward.

FUNDRAISING

The figures above have changed little and we are just a tad concerned. We do need additional donors to step forward now.

We also need about an additional €100000 for the purchase of the additional parcels as well as to develop what we have. We have recently learned that one of the parcels was sold already, so we will have to act fast to ensure that the land surrounding us remains faerie space. We have €2000 of that amount raised.

The past month has had us busy not only with Folleterre but also at Beltane.

LEGAL STRUCTURE AND PURCHASE

Since our last update, we have again edited and adopted the statuts for the
French non-profit association Les Amis de Folleterre (Friends of
Folleterre). We have registered the association at the local government
office and the announcement of the creation of the group will be published
in the Official Journal of the French government soon. The statuts will be
online at the web site shortly.

From the legal point of view, everything is ready for the purchase to happen
according to the notaire presiding over the sale.

Our current work is focused on the last requirement for a loan, which is to
produce a budget showing our plan to pay for the loan with a combination of
gathering and other income as well as monthly contributions from faeries
like YOU. If you can make a monthly pledge please do so immediately at
http://www.folleterre.org/give.htm. Once we have the budget we will get an
official loan offer and then we must wait eleven days (a “cooling off”
period under French law) until we can sign the final act. THIS JUST IN!!! We
will receive the formal loan offer early next week which means the loan is
OURS! Thanks to nearly-wish-he-were-faerie Charly Cardot, our banker, for
his faerie magick!

Another matter we have yet to settle is exactly how to handle donations,
including the money for the deposit we have gathered (see below). We are
working with our financial advisor to firm up our understanding and plans to
do this and expect to hear something next week. THIS JUST IN!!! We have
worked out how to get donations! We are a GO! Thanks to Celestia, Folleterre
Faerie Extraordinaire, for her magick here.

As mentioned above, we have adopted statuts (bylaws) for the organization
and there is an open CALL TO CIRCLE. What this means is that anyone
interested in participating in decision-making for the sanctuary can now
pledge to become a member of the Folleterre Circle (officially, our Board of
Directors) as a Steward or Friend.

The Circle has yet to meet officially; the three officers (as required to
start the association) are Innocentia Immaculata P.S. (AKA the faerie Pope)
as President, Celestia OKH as Secretary, and Beebalm Citronella Dragula as
Treasurer. You too can have a new or additional faerie names AND get
involved in the future of your sanctuary!!! Circle information will be found

An important bit of work around community is happening with our venture into
producing the Fall 2005 issue of RFD, the outhouse magazine par excellence
of the radical faerie and rural fag world. To get involved there, contact

First, the GOOD NEWS: we have raised the ˆ50000 needed for our down payment
on the land AND are pre-approved for the loan of ˆ100000 for the remainder
of the purchase. Yeah! FAERIES!!!

Now, the rest of the news. To get the loan, we must show income from pledges
and other activities of around ˆ1000 per month. We need less than that (the
loan repayment, for example, is ˆ734.69 per month, but that doesn’t include
insurance) but want to be sure that we have what we need. In any event
overage can go to pay back the loan faster. We currently have pledges for
ˆ250 per month.

Faerie sisters and brothers, in-betweens and queers, lovers and friends, the time has come for a radical faerie Sanctuary in Europe!!!

This Call goes out to our tribe and our sister tribes to ask for your generous consideration of a gift to enable the purchase of Folleterre Sanctuary, the first Eurofaerie sanctuary, in the Vosges Mountains in the east of France.

We are in need of cash donations as well as monthly support…

About the Land and Sanctuary

Eurofaeries have been searching for several years now for land that can serve as a sanctuary in the radical faerie tradition. We believe we have found the perfect place in Folleterre.

It is a beautiful farm in the middle of a nature reserve (in the Vosges Mountains) located in the north-east of France where it is very central in Europe. It can be reached very easily by train from Paris, Basel, Cologne and many other places. The closest station is only 10 km (7 miles) away. So where ever you come from or where you have to go, it will be easy.

We have decided that we will buy this beautiful place, but moreover there is the chance to buy with it more land next to it. It is a big step to take but we feel this is the right place in the right time to take this step. A step for the Faeries and for the World around us!

We want this place to become a place of magnificent abundance. A place for fun, healing and respect. The world needs all the ingredients we play with as Faeries. Moreover it is time to live in Respect of Mother Nature.
